Project Description

- This research was supported by the Converging Research Center Program funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

- Human visual attention is a research which has a strong effect on the field of HRI and has various applications in human-care robot and service robot. The ability of human visual attention to acquire knowledge on informative objects through interaction with the environment is an important research issue in the field of augmented cognition. Such knowledge can be acquired by automatically detecting visually attentive regions using the fixation extracted from eye-tracking data. Our research focuses on a novel augmented cognition model based on the information processing mechanism of human brain. We have developed a automatic segmentation method of visual attentive region by combining human fixation with salient region from top-down and bottom-up visual attention for augmented cognition.
